Yep, thats the point.
We all love our old favourite bands, but they all had to start somewhere.
Music is in a dark place... Bands just aren't in the charts any more, EDM is nothing but sped up 80s ballads and AI generated music can simply fuck off. The unsigned artists that endure these dark times are often travelling miles to play to 10 people, or playing in a local music venues which are under constant threat.
We get it, spending hard earned pay to see a band that might be trash is a dice roll, especially when you can squint through a pint and nostalgically relive old gigs through a weekend covers band.
We won't book covers bands. Not because we don't think they are worthy musicians, but because we just believe its important to give new music a chance.
So this is our goal... to make it easier for people to take a plunge, or even dip a toe into their local music scene. For a start, we'll always be good value for money. We are a cheap night out, but we don't half ass the setup. The Ark in Newmarket has been a great host to us. The venue, sound and stage is unrivalled, and very few live music venues in East Anglia compare.
We carefully choose bands, and we'll only book bands that we have listened to. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but we don't rely on instagram followings, fancy media packs, accolades earnt through sketchy band-battles, or nominations for obscure online music awards.
We book through recommendations or because we have actually seen them perform. You'll often see genres lean towards grunge/ garage/ noise/ stoner/ desert/ psych end of heavier music, because frankly thats what we play. As our circle widens, we look forward to showcasing everything from local metal nights to local live acoustic artists.
